As much as we’d love to spend all day writing about LEGO, we at TBB Towers do have day jobs to attend to. Without giving too much away, mine involves working very closely with rally cars like the one Instagram user dak_yuki has built. For those not familiar, this is the – deep breath – Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid. Not the most catchy name, perhaps, but it has just ended a dominant season in the World Rally Championship with a victory in dak_yuki’s native Japan. So what better time to enjoy this fantastic scale model?
From the outside, the most striking element is the brick-built livery. The TGR colours are not easy to tackle; it’s asymmetric, and bits are going every which way. With that in mind, it’s remarkable how accurate this one is! Even without the sponsor stickers, it’s immediately recognisable.
The same can be said of the inside. The larger scale allows for some of the more intimate details to be captured. Particularly notable are the bucket seats and the separate gearshift and handbrake levers. Even the wing mirror’s unusual shape has been replicated! The attention to detail here is second to none.

They may say “if you want to win, hire a Finn” in rallying, but of late you could also employ a Japanese car builder such as Toyota – or @dak_yuki!
